PNU Fixed Telescope

Historical fixed zenith-pointing 5 m telescope at Princess Nourah University, designed for observation of the 1420 MHz neutral-hydrogen line.

A historical fixed station

The telescope is a real part of the project. Its design is published. Station operations and data are still being added.

Published design and performance values

As reported in the Radio Science paper:

  • 5 m parabolic reflector, fixed and zenith-pointing;
  • observing frequency around 1420 MHz (the H I line);
  • focal length 1.75 m;
  • angular resolution approximately 2.94°;
  • telescope gain approximately 35 dB;
  • conical feed horn, with directivity approximately 6.47 dB;
  • aperture efficiency approximately 51%.

    Awaiting ingestion The structure is ready in the PNU fixed archive. Publishing the design does not mean the observations are ingested, so there is no download.
